Official Press Release
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to tee it up with a few members of the most exclusive fraternity in all of golf? Here is your chance because former United States Ryder Cup Captains will be at the Detroit Golf Club on Sept. 15, 2004.

Want to join them?

The PGA of America is proud to bring you The Ryder Cup Captains Challenge, a golf event that will benefit local Michigan charities. There have only been 23 United States Ryder Cup Captains in the history of golf, and now you have the opportunity to see what true champions they really are in person.

Format:
The Captains Challenge will be an 18-hole shotgun start scramble with four participants on each team. As you reach the first par-3 during your front nine, you will be greeted by two Ryder Cup Captains. First, the Captains will hit their tee shots, then you will have the opportunity to try and fire your own tee shot inside of theirs. If you are successful, you will win a prize worthy of successfully challenging the Captains! The same scenario will play out as you approach the first par-3 on the back nine of your round.

You will receive breakfast, lunch, gift bag, and a framed picture of you with the Ryder Cup Captains. A luncheon reception in the clubhouse to announce the winning teams and their prizes will take place following the end of play. You will also receive an invitation to the Pairings Party, and an International Pavilion ticket to the 35th Ryder Cup Matches!

Location: The Detroit Golf Club, Detroit, Mich.

Time and Date: Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m.

The Detroit Golf Club

Detroit Golf Club Robert Trent Jones The Detroit Golf Club was originally formed in 1899. The current courses were designed in 1916 by world renowned architect Donald Ross. Later the courses where revised by none other than Robert Trent Jones. Both courses at Detroit Golf Club are pleasant parkland layouts best known for the artful shaping of the greens. The North Course has an outstanding set of putting surfaces, which were rebuilt by course architect Arthur Hills. The South Course, albeit shorter with more generous targets and fewer hazards, remains a worthy test of a golfers skill. This historic and beautiful club is the perfect setting for The Ryder Cup Captains Challenge presented by Cadillac.
