ProQuip to Keep European Team Dry
ProQuip becomes the Preferred Supplier of Weatherwear to The 2006 European Ryder Cup Team at The K Club.

ProQuip, one of the world's leading golf weatherwear manufacturers, is to become the Preferred Supplier of Weatherwear to The 2006 European Ryder Cup Team at The K Club, Straffan, Co. Kildare, Ireland from September 22-24, 2006.
Ryder Cup Europe LLP today announced the agreement with ProQuip, which will provide all the wet weather clothing for Captain Ian Woosnam's European Team and Backroom Staff.
Ian Woosnam said: "As Captain, I am involved in selecting the waterproof suit that the Team will wear. It is vital that the players stay dry and comfortable in adverse weather conditions - and I am confident that we have the right garments."
ProQuip, founded in 1981 and based in the historic golfing town of North Berwick in Scotland, is synonymous with ultra-lightweight and supremely soft waterproof-breathable golf clothing, with their exclusive, innovative fabrics and award-winning garments leading the industry for a quarter of a century.
In 1984, ProQuip was the first company in Europe to use the revolutionary new waterproof-breathable GORE-TEX? fabric in its clothing, laying the foundation for huge commercial success and popularity among club and professional golfers alike. More success followed in the 1990s as ProQuip's pioneering research and development led to the groundbreaking Ultralite suit, the first truly lightweight, soft and easy to play in fabric.
The European Tour has enjoyed a strong relationship with ProQuip over the past two decades, firstly as an Official Supplier to the Tour and, on eight occasions since 1985, as Preferred Supplier of Weatherwear to The European Ryder Cup Team.
ProQuip managing director and chief designer, Richard Head, said: "This will be the sixth European Ryder Cup Team I have designed suits for - and the garment Ian and the Team will be wearing at The K Club next year represents a quantum leap forward in weatherwear technology. In the same way ProQuip's suits revolutionised the golf market in the 1980s and 1990s, so this suit will change the way we think about waterproofs today and in the future."
Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: "Pro-Quip has been an Official Supplier to The European Tour for over many years, and we are delighted that the company will now also play a key role in Europe's bid to retain The Ryder Cup next September."
Simon Glasgow, Chairman of ProQuip, added: "Being appointed Preferred Supplier of Weatherwear to The 2006 European Ryder Cup Team is another significant milestone for ProQuip - and one that we are extremely proud of. It sends a message all around the golfing world - from Scotland to Europe, America and now new golfing nations such as China - that ProQuip is the global leader in golf weatherwear."
