Thousands of litres of Ireland's leading bottled water will be consumed during what is considered to be the world's number one team golfing event.
Richard Hills, Ryder Cup Director, said that he was delighted to welcome an iconic Irish brand onboard as an Official Sponsor, at a time when The Ryder Cup competition is gearing up for its first ever visit to Ireland in its 79-year history.
"It is fitting that our bottled water sponsor hails from Ireland and that the players, particularly the international players, will get a chance to sample a drink that is inherently Irish and that has a natural fit with sport," said Hills.
Nicola O'Connell, Ballygowan's marketing manager, said that she knew that The 2006 Ryder Cup would be the perfect sponsorship for a brand that is asserting itself on the sports field, with the second of two sporting announcements, this year.
"Last month we announced our association with the Munster Rugby Team and with today's announcement, we are obviously thrilled to be affiliated with one of the most exciting and much-anticipated sporting events ever to be hosted in Ireland," said Ms O'Connell.
"We knew that there was only one response to the proposition of being Official Water Sponsor to The 2006 Ryder Cup and, as Ireland's pioneering bottled water brand, we are delighted to have been in a position to embark on this sponsorship deal."
