Casey And Karlsson Are Pick Of The Bunch

Paul Casey and rookie Robert Karlsson produced the outstanding front nine performance of the morning fourballs, reaching the turn in a betterball of 31 to open up a three hole lead over Stewart Cink and JJ Henry.
The English-Swedish combination lost the second hole to a Henry birdie but hit back immediately when Karlsson birdied the third and Casey eagled the par five fourth.
Big-hitting Casey, who won last week’s HSBC World Match Play Championship, was the only one of the four to reach the green in two and knocked in an eight foot putt to put the Europeans one-up.
The Europeans then put further daylight between themselves and the Americans by winning the par four ninth.
Karlsson’s approach from the left side of the fairway came to rest two feet from the hole, setting up a simple birdie. Henry skidded a 15-footer past the hole and Cink missed from ten feet to fall three holes behind at the start of the back nine.
