European Captain, Ian Woosnam, has confirmed that the order of play for The 2006 Ryder Cup against the United States at The K Club, Straffan, Co. Kildare, Ireland, will follow the same format as the last contest at Oakland Hills Country Club, Mich., in 2004.
Woosnam has elected to play the two series off fourballs on the mornings of Friday, Sept. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23 with two series of foursomes each afternoon. The 12 singles ties will complete the 28-point match on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Woosnam has opted for the same format as the one adopted by past captain Seve Ballesteros at Valderrama in Spain in 1997. Sam Torrance, the last Captain on European soil at The De Vere Belfry in 2002, started with the fourballs followed by foursomes on Friday, but reversed the order on Saturday.
