A feisty competitor, DiMarco's enthusiasm alone can go a long way to help the Americans. He also has a knack for dramatic endings. A perfect example would be his Presidents Cup-clinching putt in the fall of 2005. DiMarco followed that with a win at the European Tour's Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. It seemed as though 2006 was off to a great start for DiMarco, but a ski accident in March caused him to miss some time on Tour. To make matters worse, his mother Norma suddenly died on July 4 from an apparent heart attack while on a family vacation. DiMarco showed his resiliency by putting up a fight against Woods at the British Open before eventually finishing second and almost assuring his spot on his second consecutive U.S. team.
