Carrie Underwood entertains the teams at the Ryder Cup Gala Dinner

Carrie Underwood, the multi platinum selling country singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy Award winner, provided the musical entertainment at the culmination of the glittering Ryder Cup Gala Dinner on Wednesday night.

The 25 year old from Oklahoma, who shot to fame when she won the fourth series of the reality television series American Idol in 2005, sang a selection of her hits before a packed audience in the auditorium of the Kentucky Centre in Louisville.

Earlier the 1000 guests -- who had dined in the adjacent glass-ceilinged restaurant -- were introduced to all 12 members of the European and United States Ryder Cup Teams by NBC broadcaster Dan Hicks, who also conducted a short question and answer session with Captains Nick Faldo and Paul Azinger.

Prior to the evening beginning, the team members were pictured with their respective wives and partners on the red carpet in front of the Kentucky Centre.
