At a Glance: Match 4

U.S. analysis: Perry has been pointing to this moment for the entire year. He played his way onto the team with a flurry of three wins in five starts earlier this summer and by all reports, he's performed extremely well during the first three days of practice at Valhalla. He'll need to guard against getting too amped up before the home crowd on Friday, though, and Furyk can settle him down. The American, though, could be distracted -- his wife was taken to the hospital with severe back pain on Thursday, although U.S. Captain Paul Azinger said she should be fine.

Europe analysis: This is as formidable a team as Europe has. Garcia thrives in the team aspect of the Ryder Cup -- he's never been beaten in Foursomes and he's only lost once in Four-Ball. Ironically, that came with Westwood, but as a team, the two are 4-1-1, including one win in alternate shot. This was a no-brainer for European captain Nick Faldo.,

Notes: Perry has a score to settle at Valhalla. He nearly won the 1996 PGA Championship here, losing to Mark Brooks in a playoff. ... Westwood is 4-0 against Furyk while Garcia is 5-1. Westwood beat Perry in Singles in 2004 while Garcia and Luke Donald beat Perry and Stewart Cink that year.

Outlook: The European Team is just too strong and too confident. Plus, Perry may have put too much pressure on himself when he said that this competition would define his career.
