His Team may be down after the first foursomes session in The Ryder Cup but European Captain Nick Faldo has admitted they are certainly not out as they embark on the afternoon fourballs in an attempt to reduce the 3-1 deficit.

"We had a very tough morning but the guys gave 100 per cent out there but, as you know, matches can go either way," said the Englishman. "We started well and the Americans rallied really well.

"We got out of one scrape with Sergio and Lee and the Americans gained in the other scrape -- a great shot by Chad Campbell at the last to put pressure on Ian and Justin. These things are going to happen because there are a lot of turnarounds out there.

"It is not just the games which turn but also the emotions and what have you so you have to regroup and go again. But everybody is up and we know we're in it now and we will go out there this afternoon and play hard."
