STEWART CINK/CHAD CAMPBELL VS. JUSTIN ROSE/IAN POULTER

U.S. analysis: Cink has plenty of team match-play experience -- he's participating in his fourth Ryder Cup and also has been on three Presidents Cup teams. But he's lost the last three foursomes he's played in Ryder Cup. Still, he's a solid driver and the fact that he and Campbell both rank in the top 20 on the PGA TOUR in greens in regulation means that should get plenty of scoring chances. The two have practiced together all week. "Cink could have been with a number of people," Paul Azinger said, "but I felt Chad was a good fit."

Europe analysis: Poulter obviously is itching to prove his worth after his selection as a Captain's pick. Rose is just itching to play in the Ryder Cup after turning pro 10 years ago. Nick Faldo is hoping that his two Englishmen will develop the kind of chemistry to justify Poulter's selection. "We have known for awhile that if we make the side, we are probably going to be a pairing,' Poulter said, 'so it is going to be awesome."

Player reaction: "Cink and Campbell are a strong pairing but there is no one on their side which is not going to be that." -- Ian Poulter ... "Our World Cup experience will be a factor and we always felt that we were stronger in foursomes than fourball when we played there." -- Justin Rose ... "I love playing with Chad. He and I go way back. We are close to the same age and have a lot in common, so just looking forward to it." -- Stewart Cink

Notes: Of the four players in the group, the only two with Friday Ryder Cup experience are the two Americans ... Campbell will be making his first appearance since withdrawing from the BMW Championship to be with his wife, who was giving birth ... Rose and Poulter played together in the World Cup last year, finishing fourth.

Outlook: Cink and Campbell have the edge in Ryder Cup experience, and that could mean a lot, especially on the first day. Poulter has been through the ringer with all the second guessers who thought Darren Clarke would've been a more proper pick. Consequently, Poulter could be properly motivated ... or mentally worn out. Still, when all is said and done, Cink has a habit of rising to the occasion in these kind of situations, and no reason to think he can't make that happen again.

Prediction: Cink-Campbell 3 & 2
