KENNY PERRY/JIM FURYK V. IAN POULTER/GRAEME MCDOWELLU.S. analysis: This is the third time the two veterans have played together -- and assures that Kentucky won't get the pairing it wanted between native sons Perry and J.B. Holmes. America could get a point, though, and that's what counts. The two 40somethings have similar steady fairways-and-greens games. Perry is Furyk's 11th different partner -- and one of his most productive. The two are 1-0-1 and have contributed 1 points to the U.S. cause. Perry, though, has never played a Four-ball match at the Ryder Cup.

Europe analysis: Many thought European Captain Nick Faldo would keep good friends Poulter and Justin Rose together. But Rose wasn't quite as sharp in the morning Foursomes, despite the European victory, and McDowell showed grit as he and Miguel Angel Jimenez gutted out a halve with the red-hot U.S. duo of Hunter Mahan and Justin Leonard. This could be a surprisingly potent pair. Poulter has factored into half of Europe's five points.

Notes: The only player Furyk has won two matches with is Tiger Woods. Their record is 2-2. ... Aside from Perry, Furyk's only other Ryder Cup team win came with Stewart Cink. ... Poulter had six birdies in Friday's Four-ball victory.

Outlook: This might be the closest match of the afternoon. McDowell seems to be coming into his own and Poulter is playing like a man possessed. The Americans can't afford to let the Europeans get the upper hand early.

Prediction: Europe wins, 1 up
