Donald holds nerve as day two gets underway
Luke Donald held his nerve to hole a testing three footer down the slope as play resumed at 08:00 hours on the second day of The 2010 Ryder Cup.
Sarah Gwynn, European Tour Editorial Staff
Donald holed out out to halve the par five ninth, keeping him and Padraig Harrington one down against Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton, and Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer both found the green on the par three 13th to set up a chance of going two up against Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson.
It was a relief to see clear skies after yesterday’s rain, which caused a seven hour 18 minute delay and prompted the schedule to be altered. After the completion of the opening fourballs this morning, there will be six foursomes matches in session two, starting at 10:45, followed by session three which will comprise two foursomes and four fourball matches.
Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell resumed at the 12th, one down against Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar, while Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher began the second day at the 11th, all square with Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker.
