For many, the sharp left to right dog-leg of the old 13th helped to make it the most memorable hole of the Wentwood Hills course. A number of strategic modifications, coupled with its position on the layout of the new course, means that it will be a pivotal hole. The most notable element of this hole is the fact that the green is drivable albeit with a well struck tee-shot carrying some 270 yards of mature woodland. Bearing in mind that not all players will contemplate this risky approach, two new deep fairway bunkers have been strategically placed at the apex of the dog-leg to capture too keen a tee shot. The original bunker at the front of the green to the right has been split into two. The resulting right hand trap is now wrapped tightly around the edge of the green in order to deter those taking on the green from the tee.
