Getting to and from the 2010 Ryder Cup
Q. What are the parking arrangements for this event?
A. There is no general public parking at The Celtic Manor Resort. All parking will be at either the East Park and Ride or the West Park and Ride. From these Car Parks, there will be a 'park and ride' scheme in operation to transport people between the Park and Rides and The Celtic Manor Resort. Q. Where is the East Park and Ride located?
A. This is located approximately 7 miles to the East of the Celtic Manor Resort. It is accessed from J23A (Magor Junction) of the M4 Motorway and is designed to service all event traffic travelling from England and the East of the venue. If you intend to use a Sat Nav system please type the postcode NP26 3TS until you pick up the event signage.
Q. Where is the West Park and Ride located?
A. This is located approximately 9 miles to the West of the Celtic Manor Resort. It is accessed from J28 of the M4 Motorway or the A48 and is designed to service all event traffic travelling from the West of the venue. If you intend to use a Sat Nav system please type the postcode NP10 8YW until you pick up the event signage.
Q. What is the cost of the coach service from the Park and Rides to The Celtic Manor Resort?
A. This is FREE with a valid Admission Ticket to The 2010 Ryder Cup.
Q. What is the cost of parking at the Park and Rides?
A. Pre-paid £100.00 for a season pass, Tuesday - Sunday.
Pre-paid £20.00 per day pass, Tuesday - Sunday.
All Parking must be paid in advance. There is no facility for payment on the day and vehicles will be refused access to the car parks without the correct vehicle pass.

Q. What time does the park and ride start?
A. 5:30 am, Tuesday - Sunday.
Q. How long does it take to park once I have exited off the M4/A48?
A. About 10 - 15 * minutes depending on traffic. (* may be longer at peak periods)
Q. How far is it to walk from the Car Parks to the Park and Ride Shuttle service?
A. Approximately 10 - 15 minutes. Due to the size of the East Park and Ride, there will be a car park shuttle service running internally within the Car Park to the departure/arrival terminal.
Q. Once I arrive in the boarding area, how long will I wait before boarding a shuttle?
A. It will take approximately 10 minutes* to enter through security and credential checks and pass through to the shuttle staging area. (* may be longer at peak periods)
Q. What time does the park and ride finish?
A. The course will be closed and all spectators asked to leave approximately 1 hour after the end of play. The park and ride will be in operation until 2 hours after the end of play or 21.30 hrs whichever is the later time. The Car Parks will close at 22.00 hrs.
Q. How long does it take to get to The Celtic Manor Resort from the Park and Rides?
A. In reasonable traffic we estimate a travel time of approximately 10-15 minutes from the East Park and Ride, and 20 minutes from the West Park and Ride.
Q. When/Where will my credentials be checked?
A. If traveling on the shuttles from the West or East Park and RIdes, your credentials will be checked prior to boarding the shuttle and departing for the golf course. If you travel on a private coach or from a hotel, your credentials will be checked upon arrival to the temporary bus terminal located at the entrance to the 2010 Course. Please note that a separate Ground Transportation Pass is required for use of the hotel shuttles.
Q. When will my bags be searched?
A. For security and safety of all attendees, and subject to the term and conditions of admission, all spectators using the Park and Ride system will be subject to security scrutiny and search procedures prior to boarding the shuttle. Only one bag per person is allowed, no larger than 8” x 8” x 8”, in order to keep the security checks as quick as possible. No hard sided items (e.g. picnic hampers, cool boxes or brief cases) will be allowed through the search areas.
Q. Can I bring my mobile phone?
A. NO, In keeping with previous years, mobile phones are not permitted past the ticket/security checkpoints where a "turnback" policy will be in operation. There will be mobile phone depository banks at both Park and Rides and the VIP Bus Terminal on site where you can leave your phone for the duration of your visit.
Q. Can I bring my camera?
A. Spectators are allowed to bring their cameras ONLY on Practice Days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Cameras are not permitted past the ticket/security checkpoints on the Match Days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). If cameras are brought to the event on Match Days, there will be a turn back policy at the ticket/security checkpoints and the cameras can be left in the same facility as the mobile phone depository area.
Q. Is there a Left Luggage & Lost Property Facility and what are the hours of operation?
A. There is a Left Luggage facility at both Park and Rides and the VIP Bus Terminal. It will be open for 30 minutes prior to the first Park & Ride until 2 hours after close of play. There will be a Lost Property Facility within the Tented Village at the event.
Q. I have a guest who lost his/her tickets, what do I do?
A. General Spectator Inquiries call to Ryder Cup Helpline 0871 230 1086 or go to the designated ticket office at the Park and Rides.
Hospitality Inquiries call Ryder Cup Hospitality on 01344 840 400 or go to the Ryder Cup Hospitality Office located behind the Harlech Pavilion on the 18th green platform.
Q. If I have purchased a travel package that includes Ground Transportation from Ryder Cup Travel Services, does the Ground Transportation Pass cover me for each day of the Ryder Cup?
A. Yes, your Ground Transportation pass is valid from Tuesday, 28th to Sunday, 3rd October.
Q. Ground Transportation is included in my RCTS package, do I have to travel by shuttle each day from/to the hotel to/from the Park and Rides and then pick up another shuttle here to go to/from the Celtic Manor Resort?
A. Your ground transportation is from the hotel to the VIP bus terminal at The Celtic Manor Resort; you do not have to go via the Park and Ride.
Q. Where do the coaches and buses drop off at the Celtic Manor Resort?
A. The Public Bus Terminal which services all shuttles from the two Park and Rides is located near the 16th Fairway of The 2010 Course.
The VIP Bus Terminal is located near to the entrance of the 2010 Course.
Q. Do we have far to walk from coach drop off point to 1st Tee?
A. It is approximately 1.2 miles from the Public Bus Terminal to the 1st Tee, however it is a short walk to the nearest part of the actual golf course itself and the first public catering area.
Q. Can I ARRIVE to The Celtic Manor Resort by Taxi?
A. NO. There is no direct public access to The Celtic Manor Resort site for guests travelling by taxi or private hire vehicles. Spectators travelling by taxi or private hire vehicles will need to go to either the West or the East Park and Ride and use the shuttle service.
Q. Can I LEAVE The Celtic Manor Resort by Taxi?
A. This is still to be confirmed. Ideally Spectators must use the shuttle service to return to the Park & Ride site(s) or Newport Train Station to access Taxi services.
Q. Can I walk to the event?
A. No. There will be no pedestrian or "walk-in" access through any of the gates into The Celtic Manor Resort.
Q. Can I be dropped off or collected from the park and ride by taxi or private vehicle?
A. Yes. There will be drop off and collection areas at each park and ride and there is no fee. Access to the shuttle bus is by showing your entry ticket.
Q. What arrangements are there for disabled access?
A. All arrangements will be tailored to the individual, who in advance has notified RCL of their disability status. Disabled guests will park in their reserved space in the Celtic Manor Resort Hotel Car Park but must make prior arrangements for designated parking and shuttles.
Q. What is the closest railway station?
A. Newport railway station, from where there will be a scheduled shuttle bus service for spectators who have travelled by rail, to one of the Bus Terminal at The Celtic Manor Resort. Further details of the train service and costs will be updated shortly.
Q. Is there a heliport or helicopter service?

Q. Does my Ryder Cup season ticket give me access to The Celtic Manor Hotel?
A. NO, Your Ryder Cup season ticket gives you access to The 2010 course at The Celtic Manor Resort, but not to The Celtic Manor Resort Hotel/Club House.
Q. Can I enter the event, leave and then re-enter the event?
A. No, there will be no 'pass outs'.
Q. What time does practice start and finish?

Q. What time do the matches start?
A. Friday 8:00 Saturday 8:00 Sunday 11:30 - TBC. All timings are approximate.
Q. What time do the matches finish?
A. Approximately 17:30-19:00
Q. What are the toilet facilities during the 2001 Ryder Cup Matches?
A. In all public areas.
Q. Will there by any facilities where refreshments can be purchased?
A. All types from Champagne and seafood to the basic hot dog.
Q. What time is the Opening Ceremony?
A. Thursday, 30th September, 14:00 - 16:30 hrs.TBC!
Q. Is it possible to hire golf buggies during the matches?
A. It is not possible to hire actual golf buggies, however there will be a service called Event Mobility where spectators with walking difficulties can pre-book an electric scooter which they can use to take them out onto the course. This can be done by visiting www.eventmobility.org.uk.
Q. Do I need to bring some form of ID with me?
A. Yes, Season Ticket Holders may be asked to show proof of identification and hospitality guests may be asked to identify their corporate host.
Q. May I bring my own food and drink?
A. Yes—as long as this fits in your small bag. * NO ALCOHOL.
Q. What do I do if my car breaks down or needs service?
A. You should ring your normal road service provider to assist.
Q. What coach services are available for disabled spectators.
A. Prior arrangements should be made through Ryder Cup Travel Services for parking services direct to the Hotel. There will then be a shuttle system in place to the course.
Q. If play is rained out, is my ticket valid for the same round of matches the following day?
A. NO. Admission and Hospitality tickets are only valid for the date as printed.
Q. What are daylight hours this time of year?
Q. Are there any special traffic flow operations to be aware of?
A. Yes. A programme of road closures and traffic diversions will be in place. All traffic movements within the closed road area and access routes will be monitored and restricted to accredited event vehicles and those belonging to local residents, all of which need to show proper credentials and labels. A "tow away zone" will be in operation (within the road closures and on those roads and areas adjacent to the course and the Celtic Manor site.) for all other vehicles.
