Match Overview
If not for a controversial bunker ruling on the final hole of regulation at the PGA Championship, these two would have squared off (along with Bubba Watson) in the three-hole playoff. Dustin Johnson has proven he is past that disappointment, but perhaps he had a measure of payback to offer as he stepped on the accelerator in this singles showdown and never let off. Kaymer was shaky in the early going, which allowed Johnson to get 2 up after nine holes of play without making a birdie. But starting on the 12th hole, Johnson reeled off three four straight birdies and won in a rout.
Key Moment
In a match that was never really close, the best moment came on the first tee when the spirited crowd began to sing, reminding Johnson that Kaymer had prevailed at Whistling Straits two months ago. Kaymer gestured to the crowd to cease the song, a classy move by the PGA Champion.

Team Europe Quote
"Losing a point for your team didn't feel good. Especially there were 11 guys and our captain were relying on me, and were hoping I would get the point. Yeah, going into this week, of course, there was pressure, because after that PGA Championship that I won, people were expecting a lot from me, and I expect a lot from me. I expect it probably more than the media or my friends or my family. And losing that point was very difficult. I mean, it's still difficult for me to accept it, but it was not about me this week. It was about the team."--Martin Kaymer
