The 38th Ryder Cup will be held Oct. 1-3, 2010, at The Celtic Manor Resort in City of Newport, Wales. Each week leading up to the matches, PGA.com Interactive Producer T.J. Auclair will provide analysis of the top 20 U.S. players in the latest standings. Go to the bottom of the page to learn how the U.S. Ryder Cup team is determined.

T.J.'s Take: Did not play on the PGA Tour this week, but tied for 16th in the Ballantine's Championship on the European Tour, which was held in Jeju Island, Korea. Due to weather, the event was shortened to 54 holes. After opening with a 68, Kim lost ground with a second-round 74, but got back on track with a 71 in the final round. Despite the strong finish, Kim did not receive any Ryder Cup points this week, because the Ballantine's Championship did not count as an "official" event for U.S. players.

T.J.'s Take: Stricks was scheduled to play, but was forced to due to a right clavicle injury. Stricker, the No. 3 ranked player in the world, withdrew after playing in the Zurich Classic Pro-Am and was advised by doctors not to pick up a golf club for at least the next two weeks. Because of that, Stricker is also forced to miss this week's Quail Hollow Championship. He's hoping to return next week for The Players Championship.

T.J.'s Take: What a weekend for Bohn, one of the PGA Tour's good guys. First, he turns 37 on Saturday and then on Sunday, he celebrates with a victory at the Zurich Classic – his second career Tour win. Bohn became the first wire-to-wire winner of the Zurich Classic since Calvin Peete in 1986. At certain points, it felt a lot like match play. Bohn won by two shots over Jeff Overton, thanks largely to birdies on three of his last four holes. All three birdies were remarkable and set up with outstanding long-iron shots. With the victory, Bohn, who has overcome several injuries in the last few years, soared from nowhere to No. 11 this week.

It was Crane's first missed cut dating all the way back to the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry – a stretch of 18 tournaments. Included in that streak was a withdrawal at the Northern Trust Open. He had won at Torrey Pines the week before.

Even still, this has got to be encouraging stuff for Duval who's been telling whoever will listen that his game has turned a corner.

T.J.'s Take: It was a short week for Marino. With a 5-over 77 in the first round, which included an ugly back-nine 40 due to back-to-back double bogeys on his final two holes, Marino needed to go low in the second round, but was only able to muster a 3-over 75. The missed cut was Marino's second of the season and broke up a stretch of three consecutive top-15 finishes. He dropped on spot in this week's standings.
Team USA Qualifying Process
The United States points system will determine the top eight players for the 2010 United States Ryder Cup Team on August 15. In addition, Captain Corey Pavin selects four players on Sept. 7, 2010, to complete the United States Team. Points are based upon the following:
-- Prize money earned in 2010 "Official" events from Jan. 1 through Aug. 15: One point is awarded for every $1,000 earned, excluding the major championships, events played opposite major championships and events played opposite World Golf Championships; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.
-- Prize money earned for the 2010 major championships: (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, and the PGA Championship). Two points are awarded for every $1,000 earned; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.
Prize money earned in 2010 events played opposite the major championships and opposite World Golf Championships events between Jan. 1 and the PGA Championship, Aug. 15 -- one-half point will be awarded for every $1,000 earned; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.
