J.B. Holmes
1,628.75500 13 16

T.J.'s Take: Ah… At last! Some movement in this week's standings! Thirteen just might be J.B.'s lucky number. Holmes jumped three spots in the standings to No. 13 this week with his tie for 13th at the Valero Texas Open. A solid finish to be sure, but you have to wonder what could have unfolded had it not been such a rough final round for Holmes, who closed with a 4-over 76. His front-nine was downright ugly - a 43 - including two birdies, four bogeys, a double and a triple bogey. To his credit, Holmes fought back on the inward nine, somehow managing a 3-under 33 - 10 shots better than his front side. So, yes, Captain Pavin, a final-round 76 is never pretty, but hats off to Holmes for his resiliency.

Bo Van Pelt
1,370.81700 17 17

T.J.'s Take: It was his worst finish in his last four starts. That being said, when Bo Van Pelt's worst still shakes out to a tie for 28th at the Valero Texas Open, it's safe to say he's playing some darned good golf. Nothing crazy on the scorecard either, just solid, solid play from one of the Tour's best ball strikers, who managed to keep a lock on the No. 17 spot in this week's standings.

Ryan Palmer

T.J.'s Take: Thanks to an outstanding final-round, 8-under 64 at the Valero Texas Open on Sunday, Palmer soared up the leaderboard to a tie for ninth, jumping 39 places over his final 18 holes for his first top 10 since winning the season-opening, full-field event, the Sony Open in Hawaii. With the finish, Palmer finds himself on the friendly side of this week's top 20.

Team USA Qualifying Process

The United States points system will determine the top eight players for the 2010 United States Ryder Cup Team on August 15. In addition, Captain Corey Pavin selects four players on Sept. 7, 2010, to complete the United States Team. Points are based upon the following:

-- Prize money earned in the 2009 major championships (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship): One point is awarded for every $1,000 earned; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.

-- Prize money earned in 2010 "Official" events from Jan. 1 through Aug. 15: One point is awarded for every $1,000 earned, excluding the major championships, events played opposite major championships and events played opposite World Golf Championships; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.

-- Prize money earned for the 2010 major championships: (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, and the PGA Championship). Two points are awarded for every $1,000 earned; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.

Prize money earned in 2010 events played opposite the major championships and opposite World Golf Championships events between Jan. 1 and the PGA Championship, Aug. 15 -- one-half point will be awarded for every $1,000 earned; all U.S. players making the cut will earn points.
