PLAYER NOTES

Despite not winning a PGA Tour event in more than a year, Tiger Woods remains the game's most acclaimed player. Owning records too numerous to list here, Woods started slowly in his return from a self-imposed four-month leave of absence from the game following the humiliation of his personal problems last November and subsequent divorce. But the world No. 1 has shown signs lately of returning to his old, dominant self. His posted three rounds in the 60s while finishing tied for 11th at the Deutsche Bank Championship and finished tied for 12th at The Barclays. Despite a ho-hum career record in the Ryder Cup, Woods says he loves the event and is determined to do whatever he can to help Team USA retain the Cup.
