With the 2012 Ryder Cup now just a year away, captains Davis Love III and Jose Maria Olazabal met up at Medinah on Sept. 26 to give some initial thoughts on the big event.

A series of "Magnificent Moments" in Chicago, including a food-and-music event and a public art exhibit, will raise money for two local charities.

Among his many changes to Medinah, architect Rees Jones transformed the 15th hole into a drive-able par 4, reducing its length by 100 yards and adding a new two-acre lake that borders dangerously on the right side of the fairway and green.

The commemorative Ryder Cup license plate, the proceeds of which will benefit the Illinois PGA Foundation's youth golf initiatives, is available for purchase by people living both inside and outside the state of Illinois.

The new qualification criteria for Team Europe will now see the leading five players from the European Points List joined by the leading five players from the World Points List as automatic qualifiers to the European Team.
