2027 Ryder Cup Europe Qualification
2027 RYDER CUP: EUROPEAN TEAM ELIGIBLITY
The European Team to compete in the 2027 Ryder Cup shall comprise of the following Members1:
(a) the leading six Members1 on the Ryder Cup Points List on Sunday 22 August 2027 (or at the conclusion of the final tournament counting towards the Ryder Cup Points List scheduled to conclude on this date, whichever is the latter and so long as such tournament concludes no later than Monday 23 August 2027). In the event of a tie between Members (i.e., a number of Members having accumulated an equal number of points), placings will be decided by the Member1 with the higher ranking on the Official World Golf Ranking as published on Monday 16 August 2027; and
(b) the Captain, Luke Donald, will choose (at his own discretion) the remaining six Members1 in the week commencing Monday 30 August 2027.
The Ryder Cup Points List will comprise the following:
1) Ryder Cup Points earned by each Member1 from all Race to Dubai Ranking Tournaments (including the four Major Championships) in which he Participates that are scheduled to conclude between Thursday 27 August 2026 and Sunday 22 August 2027; and
2) Ryder Cup Points earned by each Member1 from all PGA TOUR FedExCup Points events in which he Participates, excluding any tournament scheduled in the same week as a DP World Tour Rolex Series tournament, that are scheduled to conclude between 1 January 2027 and Sunday 22 August 2027. NOTE: The PGA TOUR event scheduled in the same week as the Genesis Scottish Open is a Race to Dubai Ranking Tournament and will therefore be allocated Ryder Cup Points.
Ryder Cup Points will be earned in accordance with the following banding structure where the below points are the total points available for each such tournament. These points will be distributed in accordance with the final results of each tournament and the breakdowns at the bottom of this document and in accordance with the rules and regulations that are applicable to the distribution of Race to Dubai Ranking Points within the applicable edition of the DP World Tour Members’ General Regulations Handbook.
Band 5 - Major Championships 5000 points
Band 4 - PGAT Signature events / The Players / FedExCup Playoffs events 3000 points
Band 3 - DPWT Rolex Series events and PGAT regular FedExCup events 2000 points
Band 2 - DPWT Back 9 events 1500 points
Band 1 - DPWT Global Series events and PGAT “opposite” events 1000 points
Definitions
1For the purposes of defining eligibility for selection for the 2027 European Ryder Cup team only, all references to Member(s) and Membership in the eligibility criteria referred to above shall mean only those European Members of the DP World Tour (whether Ranked or Affiliate Members), Ranked European Members of the HotelPlanner Tour, or European “Past Champions or other Members of distinction” who have also taken up Affiliate DP World Tour Membership or Ranked HotelPlanner Tour Membership.
Notes
(1) With regards to distribution of Ryder Cup Points at the 2027 Zurich Classic team event, points will only be awarded to teams where both players are European (each an “eligible team”). Such points for each finishing position, as defined in the tables below and with regard to eligible teams only, will be split 50/50 between the two players in each such eligible team.
(2) Points won on the Ryder Cup Points List can only be earned by a player whilst a Member1 of the DP World Tour. Exception: A Non-Member who wins a Race to Dubai Ranking Tournament and subsequently takes up the related DP World Tour Ranked Membership in accordance with the deadline set out in Regulation B1(e) of the applicable edition of the DP World Tour Members’ General Regulations Handbook will be awarded the Ryder Cup Points from such tournament retrospectively.
(3) For points earned to count within any one Official Season, a Ranked Member must fulfil his Membership obligations (referred to in Regulation B1(c) of the applicable edition of the DP World Tour Members’ General Regulations handbook) within that Official Season. In the Official Season in which the Ryder Cup is to be played, if any Ranked Member has not fulfilled these Membership obligations at the time when the European Ryder Cup team is selected, he must have committed to Participate in and there must remain sufficient Race to Dubai Ranking Tournaments in that Official Season for the Member to be able to do so.
(4) A Non-Member taking up Membership1 of the DP World Tour for an Official Season that commences during the qualification period (referred to in paragraph (a) above) can only earn points from the date of the first Race to Dubai Ranking Tournament of that Official Season or the first Race to Dubai Ranking Tournament for which the player is a Member1 of the DP World Tour, whichever is the latter.
(5) All decisions and/or disputes relating to a player’s eligibility for selection for a European Ryder Cup team including any issues relating to nationality, citizenship, domicile or residency of a player will be determined in accordance with the International Golf Federation’s Nationality Policy, subject to the ratification of any such decision by the Ryder Cup Policy Board (as the same may subsequently be known) of Ryder Cup Europe LLP.
(6) The International Golf Federation’s policy regarding the participation of players (and support personnel) who hold a Russian or Belarusian passport is adopted and will apply. The applicable policy is detailed in the DP World Tour Members’ General Regulations Handbook and may be amended from time to time at the discretion of PGA European Tour.
Format
The tournament will be a match play competition between two teams of 12 players representing Europe and the United States. On both the 1st and 2nd days there will be a series of 4 foursome matches and a series of 4 four-ball matches, and on the final day a series of 12 singles matches.
