Getting to and from The 2014 Ryder Cup

Reminder to fans travelling to Gleneagles. Be sure to park in your designated park & ride site. Spectators will not be able to walk into the event.

 

 

GENERAL


- There is no direct public pedestrian access to The Gleneagles site so ticket holding spectators should note they cannot be dropped off or picked up near the venue for arrival or departure by taxi or private vehicle.

- Please allow plenty of time for travel and arrive early. Include time for all elements of your journey including to and from the Park and Ride sites and The Ryder Cup Bus Terminals, both on arrival and departure.

- Ticket and security checkpoints will be in place at the Park and Ride sites, so please also allow appropriate time in your schedule for them. All bags will be subject to a security search and any bags that are over 12” x 12” x 12” (30cm x 30cm x 30cm) will not be permitted into the event.

- Please refer to the section on Prohibited Items in the Spectator A-Z guide and avoid bringing any of these items to the event.

- There is a free left luggage facility at all park and rides, bus terminals and Gleneagles railway station.

- “No Parking/Tow away” zones are in place on all roads around The Gleneagles Hotel and any unattended vehicle will be removed.

- Private vehicles will NOT be permitted access to the site – even for drop-off.

- All tickets are for nominated ticket holders with no ticket sales on the gate. Spectators will not be permitted to leave the event main site and return to it on the same day (i.e. No Pass-Outs).

- Please be reminded that your ticket will be scanned and checked and verified against the photo printed on the ticket. These are not transferrable.

- Whilst all times and distances are given for normal traffic conditions, due to the increased traffic flow during the event, journey times may increase and alternative routes may need to be taken.

PARK AND RIDE

A Park and Ride scheme has been implemented to relieve as much pressure as possible on the road infrastructure with three official Park and Ride locations:

•         EAST Park and Ride (Balado, Kinross)
•         NORTH Park and Ride (McDiarmid Park, Perth)
•         WEST Park and Ride (Castleview, Stirling)

There are NO public parking facilities or drop off points at or near The Gleneagles Hotel other than for essential event personnel. Roads in the immediate vicinity of the venue are closed to unauthorised vehicles and private cars.

There will be no pedestrian access at any of the three Park and Ride sites. However, spectators can be dropped off by car free of charge and should follow the pick-up/drop off signs upon arrival at the most convenient Park and Ride site. You do not need a car park label to access the pick-up and drop-off area – just follow the signs to these areas at each Park and Ride site.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NORTH PARK AND RIDE IS NOW FULL. THE EAST AND WEST HAVE AVAILABILITY. SALES WILL CEASE FOR PARK AND RIDE TICKETS ON FRIDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER.

Operating Times

Tuesday 23rd September & Wednesday 24th September    05.45hrs
Thursday 25th September – Sunday 28th September        05.45hrs

Buses will run frequently to Gleneagles until around 10.00 with each bus making around two return journeys and then service will be reduced to an adequate level to meet the lower demand during the day.  Returning in the evening, the buses will be running at full capacity to meet demand from around 16.00.

Last Bus from Gleneagles to the Park and Rides        21.00hrs

Travelling to East Park and Ride (Balado, Kinross)
•         15 miles to the south east of Gleneagles.
•         Situated on the south side of the A91, just off the M90 motorway
•         Designed to service all event traffic travelling from Edinburgh and the east of Scotland.

Ticket and security checkpoints will be in place at the Park and Rides. Please allow appropriate time in your schedule for these elements and the transfer journey via the Park and Ride. This applies to all Park and Rides.

Under normal traffic conditions, the transfer time from EAST Park and Ride (Balado, Kinross) to The Ryder Cup Public Bus Terminal is approximately 25 minutes.

Travelling to North Park and Ride (McDiarmid Park, Perth)
•         16 miles to the north east of Gleneagles.
•         Situated on the north side of the A85, just off the A9
•         Designed to service all event traffic travelling from Perth and the north east of Scotland.

Ticket and security checkpoints will be in place at the Park and Rides. Please allow appropriate time in your schedule for these elements and the transfer journey via the Park and Ride. This applies to all Park and Rides.

Under normal traffic conditions, the transfer time from NORTH Park and Ride (McDiarmid Park, Perth) to The Ryder Cup Public Bus Terminal is approximately 20 minutes.

Travelling to West Park and Ride (Castleview, Stirling)
•         19 miles to the south west of Gleneagles.
•         Situated off the M9 motorway, between junction 9 and 10
•         Designed to service all event traffic travelling from Glasgow, Stirling and the west of Scotland.

Ticket and security checkpoints will be in place at the Park and Rides. Please allow appropriate time in your schedule for these elements and the transfer journey via the Park and Ride. This applies to all Park and Rides.

Under normal traffic conditions, the transfer time from WEST Park and Ride (Castleview, Stirling) to The Ryder Cup Public Bus Terminal is approximately 25 minutes.

Car Parking Fees – Per Vehicle not per person
Spectators intending to use the Park and Ride site locations must purchase their car parking passes in advance of the event. They can be purchased at the same time as your tickets, alternatively you can buy them from www.rydercup.com/europe/tickets.

Your car park pass must be displayed at all times. Ryder Cup Europe LLP reserves the right to charge the appropriate daily car parking rate for any guest not displaying a valid car park pass.

Parking fees at all three Park and Ride sites are £10 per vehicle per day on Tuesday and Wednesday, £20 per vehicle per day from Thursday to Sunday. Prices includes VAT.

The shuttle bus is free.

Taxis/Private Vehicles

Taxis and private vehicles will NOT be allowed access to The 2014 Ryder Cup event site nor is there any facility for drop off or pick up on adjoining routes or pedestrian access or egress to the event site. Private hire vehicles, limousines and taxis should follow the Park and Ride event signage to the most appropriate Park and Ride site where there will be a dedicated drop off and collection area. There is no charge for this. There is a 10 minute maximum waiting time for picking up.

Public Coach and Minibus Parking

There are NO facilities for public coach or minibus parking at Gleneagles. It is possible, however, to book coach/minibus parking at all three park and rides. The cost is £100 for a full size coach and £50 for a minibus or vehicle with more than 8 seats. BY RAIL

ScotRail have organised a dedicated 2014 Ryder Cup service to transport up to 7,500 spectators each day to and from Gleneagles Station which is only a short walk from the entrance to The 2014 Ryder Cup venue.

"The sales 'window' for these tickets is now closed.  [Tickets were available for purchase from October 2013 - 16 September 2014].   If you do not already have a train ticket for these dedicated services you will not be able to travel by train to the event.

For those who have booked tickets, you must travel on the train to Gleneagles that you have booked. Please be aware that it will be a standing and seated service. For the return journeys, there will be a queuing system, with a first come first served process filling the trains ready for dispatch. For those arriving at Gleneagles Station with accessibility issues there will be a shuttle to transport you to the Yellow Bus Terminal, where Event Mobility are based and Spectator Assistances will be there to assist you with any needs.

BY COACH

Ryder Cup Europe has provided a pre-paid and pre-booked coach service from Edinburgh Bus Station, St Andrew’s Square to the YELLOW Bus Terminal at Gleneagles, where spectators will be dropped off for ticket and security checking and can then walk onto The 2014 Ryder Cup event site.   
 
There is still some availability on these services but this is limited on Match Days.

The Ryder Cup 2014: Bus Link from Perth City Centre to McDiarmid Park (North Park and Ride)

To assist those Ryder Cup ticketholders staying in hotels and guest houses in central Perth, and local residents, the Perth & Kinross Council is providing a convenient bus link (Service 2X) from Mill Street (Bus Stop G) to McDiarmid Park on each day of the Ryder Cup (Tuesday, 23 September 2014 to Sunday, 28 September 2014).

The service, which will be provided by Stagecoach Perth, costs £3.00 return for adults and £1.50 for children, with payment on the day.  National Entitlement Cards are not valid for use.

Service 2X will operate the following route:

Mill Street (Stance G) - Kinnoull Street - Atholl Street - Barrack Street - Dunkeld Road - Crieff Road - McDiarmid Park and return

Buses will pick-up and drop-off at all marked bus stops en route (except for the two bus stops immediately outside McDiarmid Park)

 BY HELICOPTER

 BY BICYCLE

There will be cycle areas, for which there is no charge, at all three Park and Ride sites from which free shuttle buses will transport you to The 2014 Ryder Cup site.

There will be cycle areas in Car Park 2 or Car Park 5 for those living or staying nearby Gleneagles. Please follow event signage to this area.

DISABLED PARKING/TRANSPORT

Designated disabled parking is located at the event site and is issued with the Disabled Ground Entry pass, for wheelchair users and others with mobility issues. Spectators who require a disabled parking pass/access to the course should contact Charlotte Banks: cbanks@europeantour.com.

Those who have a blue disabled badge but no disabled ground entry pass will park in dedicated areas at the front of the Park and Ride car parks. Should assistance be required on site please contact the nearest marshal.
 
ACCESS FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS AND THOSE STAYING IN THE VICINITY OF GLENEAGLES

All ticketholders and accommodation providers should now have been e-mailed by RCE or Perth and Kinross Council with regards to their local access options. If you still have not received any information, please e-mail rydercup2014@seetickets.com with the subject header: Local Access and we will issue you the information you require.

The ticket and security checking process will be completed as quickly as possible, however it may take some time and involve queuing - particularly at peak periods. Please allow sufficient time for this element in planning your journey
