Sports celebrities to meet fans Sept. 22-23 at Medinah Country Club

The Ryder Cup public pre-sale will kick off Sept. 22-23 with Hall of Fame talent at Medinah Country Club and there is no ticket required. The guest list features the likes of Chicago Bears great Dan Hampton, Chicago Blackhawks legend Stan Mikita and three-time major champion Billy Casper.

MEDINAH, Ill. -- World Golf Hall of Famer Billy Casper, owner of the most points in U.S. Ryder Cup history, former Chicago Bears Hall of Fame defensive lineman Dan Hampton and Chicago Blackhawks Hall of Famer Stan Mikita will be featured guests meeting visitors at the 2012 Ryder Cup Pre-Sale Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23, at Medinah (Ill.) Country Club. The sale is open to the public, with no tickets required.

Pre-Sale hours at the Ryder Cup Golf Shop will be Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. CDT; and Sunday, Sept. 23, from Noon-5:00 p.m. CDT.

Hampton, a four-time All-Pro selection, played defensive tackle and defensive end on the Chicago Bears' 1985 Super Bowl Champion team. He will sign autographs Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m.-Noon CDT.

Casper, who competed on eight U.S. Ryder Cup Teams and scored 23½ points out of 37 matches, also was a victorious Captain in 1979. He will appear Sunday, Sept. 23, from Noon-2 p.m. CDT.

Mikita won the 1961 Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks, with whom he played his entire career. The elite center iceman was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983. He will sign autographs Sunday, Sept. 23, from 2-4 p.m. CDT (no jerseys).

Parking will be located at 333 E. Lake Street, just west of the intersection of Lake Street and Medinah Road. Visitors will be shuttled to Medinah Country Club. The Ryder Cup Golf Shop will be open for ticket-bearing spectators Sept. 25 through Sept. 30, during regular gate hours.

The 39th Ryder Cup, the first to be conducted in Illinois,  is one of the most spirited, exciting and compelling events in sport-covering nearly 85 years, involving the greatest players in the world and producing some of the greatest moments in the game.
