Team USA Captain Tom Watson could take another step toward completing his Ryder Cup leadership staff on Tuesday when he is expected to announce his second vice captain.

Watson, who will lead Team USA against Team Europe in the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles this September, will possibly unveil his choice during a news conference at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., where the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open will be played Thursday-Sunday.

You can watch the news conference live on PGA.com and RYDERCUP.com beginning at 1 PM ET.

If named, the second vice captain would join two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North on Watson’s staff. North, who competed for the U.S. in the 1985 Ryder Cup at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England, was named vice captain on July 4, 2013.

Watson has not yet announced how many vice captains he will use on his staff.

At Gleneagles, the U.S. will try to rebound from a crushing loss at Medinah in 2012, where they squandered an 8-4 lead heading into Sunday’s 12 singles matches and lost to the Europeans 14 ½-13 ½. Team USA has won the Ryder Cup just twice in the last nine biennial matches, and hasn’t won on European soil since 1993 at The Belfry, when Watson was captain.
