Might have had to rely on a Captain's Pick to make the 2008 European Ryder Cup Team, but recent form, coupled with a wealth of Ryder Cup winning experience from 2004 and 2006, made the 31 year old Englishman a strong contender to join the ten automatic qualifiers at Valhalla. Has not, by his own high standards, had the greatest season of his career but, as one of the most explosive and naturally gifted European players of his generation, will bring a crucial dimension to Nick Faldo's European Team. Casey has, over the past two months, begun to show the kind of form that Faldo hopes he will produce over three intense days of Ryder Cup competition in Kentucky. He finished tied third in the BMW International Open, tied seventh in The Open Championship, tied eighth in the World Golf Championships–Bridgestone Invitational and tied 15th in the US PGA Championship. Made his Ryder Cup debut at Oakland Hills in 2004, winning one point from two Matches before becoming a driving force at The K Club in 2006, winning three out of four points as Team Europe matched their record breaking victory margin of 18½- 9½.
