Hole 18 Go to 17

No. 18

575 Yards
Par 5

The forward tee is being used for The 2010 Ryder Cup, making the green reachable in two and presents possible eagle opportunities -- for my Team, hopefully! I think it plays a much better two shot par five than it does a three shot par five so I wanted there to be the chance to go for the green, which is protected by two astonishingly good bunkers, over the water in two. I think that plays to our advantage as I do believe that, as a Tour, we hit the ball longer than the Americans do. If you are in the bunker on the left and the pin is at the front of the green then it is a tricky recovery as it is not impossible for the ball to trickle down into the water. Trust me, if you have won your match, you'll float up the hill from the 18th green to the clubhouse; if you've lost, that hill will seem like a mountain.
