Sept. 22-28, 2025 Bethpage Black Course, Farmingdale, NY

Andy Sullivan, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell kept their automatic Ryder Cup qualification hopes on track after strong performances at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

Following a top five finish at the 100th Open de France, Sullivan tightened his grip on a spot in Darren Clarke’s provisional team after taking a share of sixth in Inverness. The Englishman, who shot a final round of 69 at Castle Stuart, currently occupies the final spot in the European Points List and will hope to continue his form at this week’s Open Championship to ensure his seat on the plane to Minnesota in September.

Kaymer’s chances of playing in his fourth Ryder Cup were boosted after finishing in a tie for 13th in Scotland. The two-time Major Championship winner’s result was his fifth top 13 finish in his last six tournaments, adding to the top fives he recorded in France and Ireland, and he sits in 15th place on the World Points List.

Four-time Ryder Cup player McDowell claimed a share of tenth after rounds of 70-69-69-71 at the event he won in 2008 at Loch Lomond Golf Club. With two Major Championships to come this summer, the Northern Irishman will be looking to improve on his current position of 17th on the World Points List and make fellow countryman Clarke’s team.

Henrik Stenson and Rafa Cabrera Bello also improved their positions in the standings after making the weekend in Scotland. Stenson remains in third place on the World Points List after taking a share of 13th and is 76 points ahead of fourth placed Sergio Garcia.

Cabrera Bello finished in a tie for 21st and overtakes Justin Rose in the same list to move to fifth, 22 points ahead of Matt Fitzpatrick, who possesses the final automatic spot as things stand.
