•    Holing the winning putt in 2006 at the K Club after defeating Vaughn Taylor 4 and 3 in the Sunday singles
•    Lighting up the 2014 contest at Gleneagles with playing partner Justin Rose including a 3 and 2 fourball win against Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar in which the European pair set a new Ryder Cup record for most birdies in a match with 12 in the space of 16 holes

2016 Qualification highlights

Made an extremely strong start to his bid for a fourth appearance in The Ryder Cup as a tied 11th and tied third place at the two Chinese Final Series event in the autumn of 2015 preceded a run of second, third and sixth places to launch his 2016 campaign. Rubber-stamped his place on the plane to Hazeltine with a tenth win at the BMW International Open in Germany and a stunning maiden Major triumph in The Open at Troon, where he held off Phil Mickelson with a record-equalling 63 on the final day.
