The 2012 Ryder Cup is one of the most famous sporting events in the world thanks to a historic comeback from Team Europe.

But many believe that if it wasn’t for a sensational performance down the stretch in the Saturday afternoon fourball matches from Ian Poulter, it may have been too much of a deficit for Europe to come back from on Sunday.

With six holes to play, Poulter and Rory McIlroy found themselves two down against the US pairing of Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson.

Step forward, ‘The Postman’.

Five consecutive birdies from the Englishman saw the European duo turn their match around to win by one hole. A key moment in The 2012 Ryder Cup.

And a moment that will live long in the memory of Ryder Cup fans.
