Player Profile: Alex Noren
Over the last two years, no one in Europe can match Alex Noren’s impressive win record, and after qualifying for Thomas Bjørn’s side via the World Points List he will make his Ryder Cup debut in Paris.
In 2016, the Swede won four European Tour titles alone, and since that outstanding season he has carried on impressing both in Europe and across the Atlantic.
Since the qualification process began at the 2017 D+D Real Czech Masters, Noren has added to his European Tour title haul and also come close to a maiden PGA Tour title.
In the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, Noren played his way into extra holes alongside Jason Day and Ryan Palmer, and after Palmer fell at the first hurdle Noren and Day went head to head for the title.
Neither could be separated after five extra holes, and the pair returned to the 18th to finish their battle the next day. In the end it was Day’s day, but Noren has since showed how fierce a competitor he is with further impressive performances in America – namely in the WGC - Dell Technologies Match Play where he finished in third place.
Noren also shone in Europe and, more importantly, at the host venue of the 42nd staging of The Ryder Cup, Le Golf National.
After a sublime weekend in Paris – Noren shot 65-67 – the 36 year old won the HNA Open de France. Now Captain Bjørn and co will be hoping he can rediscover that form when he returns to the course as a member of Team Europe.

Quote: “I think we have a great team already and I am sure Thomas and the Vice-Captains will add even more strength to the Team next week. I’m looking forward to playing my first Ryder Cup – it is something I have thought about for a long time. I’m very happy that we are playing at Le Golf National too – having won around there this year I obviously can play well there so hopefully I can help the Team win as many points as possible.”
