Could Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods be paired together in Paris? Don't count on it

There's a chance that Ryder Cup USA veterans Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods could be on the same team for the first time since 2012.

But is there a chance we also could see a reunion of their much-debated-about pairing in 2004 at Oakland Hills? Don't hold your breath.

Ryder Cup USA Captain Jim Furyk was asked about the hypothetical pairing Monday during a segment of Golf Channel's "Morning Drive" and laughed off the suggestion pretty quickly.

"Yeah, It worked out so well the first time," Furyk joked. "I hope they're both watching because they both fell off the couch laughing."

They lost both of their Thursday matches en route to an 18.5 to 9.5 loss to Europe — including an opening loss to Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie, who also joined the Golf Channel segment and quipped that the pairing was a great idea for Europe.

Furyk added, "I wouldn't guess that would be a good idea as a captain, I'm just saying."
