Lee Westwood claimed his 25th European Tour title with victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA to move into the automatic qualification places for Team Europe.
The Englishman, who carded four rounds in the 60s to become only the third player to win on the European Tour in four different decades, shoots up to fill the ninth and final qualification spot following his second Rolex Series victory.
The 46-year-old is not the only player to make a significant move after his performance last week, with Tommy Fleetwood, Victor Perez and Matt Fitzpatrick – all runners-up in Abu Dhabi – flying up the standings.
After a victory and two second-place finishes in his last three starts Fleetwood – who turned 29 last week – overtakes Jon Rahm to sit in first place, with Perez leapfrogging Rory McIlroy to move up to third place.
Fitzpatrick is also well-placed to make a second Ryder Cup appearance having moved up to sixth position in the standings.

The qualification period for Europe’s 2020 Ryder Cup team began at the 2019 BMW PGA Championship and will conclude at the same event in September 2020, with the 12-man European Team comprising the first four players from the European Points List, followed by the leading five players from the World Points List.
Available Race to Dubai points and World Ranking points will be multiplied by 1.5 towards the end of the qualification period, starting at the 2020 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation.
Qualification points in both 2019 and 2020 will not be available anywhere in the world from a tournament played opposite a Rolex Series event, further enhancing the status of the premier series of events on the European Tour.
