A winner of an incredible 80 events on the PGA Tour, including 14 major championships -- good for second-best all-time -- Woods is seemingly a lock to be a future Captain and got his first crack as a Vice Captain under Davis Love III at Hazeltine. He was also named as a Vice Captain under Jim Furyk for the 2018 matches before being named a captain's pick. Woods has himself already appeared in seven completed Ryder Cups, having missed out on a chance to compete in 2008 and 2014. In his seven starts as a player, Woods has been a member of the winning side just once. That was in 1999 when the U.S. completed a miracle come-from-behind final day victory at the Country Club in Brookline. Woods missed the entire 2015-16 PGA Tour season and most of the 2016-17 season recovering from back surgery. He has made a scintillating return in 2018. Woods recorded a T2 finish at the Valspar Championship -- his first top 10 since the 2015 Wyndham Championship. He missed the cut at the U.S. Open but finished T6 or better in this season's final two majors. He led the Open Championship on Sunday before fishing tied for sixth. He thrilled the huge crowds at Bellerive Country Club on Sunday at the PGA Championship on the way to a finish alone in second place. He then won on the PGA Tour for the first time in five years at the TOUR Championship, only days ahead of his eighth Ryder Cup.
