Sept. 25-Oct. 1, 2023 Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, Rome, Italy

Today marks 100 days until the first ball is struck at The 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National, where the Europeans will be looking to reclaim the trophy from their American counterparts.

As the players battle it out in the last few counting events to make Thomas Bjørn’s side, both fans and players are beginning to get excited about the prospect of the biggest and most exciting Ryder Cup yet.

And the commitment of the fans, and those behind the event, has not gone unnoticed by Bjørn, with the captain saying: “There are many people, not just in Paris, but across the whole of the country who are determined to make this the greatest Ryder Cup the world has ever seen, and we are all fortunate to have such commitment on our side.

“Everybody in Europe remembers the sheer joy of winning this great trophy; players holing winning putts and producing moments that have gone down in the annals of the game and today’s players desperately want to be part of that history too.

“Quite simply, it’s The Ryder Cup – there is nothing like it.”

The race to make Team Europe ends on September 2 at the close of the Made In Denmark tournament, with 11 events beforehand for players to make a move into the automatic places, including three Rolex Series events and the last two remaining Majors.

As things stand, the team features a vast mix of experienced Ryder Cup stars and exciting rookies in Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Alex Noren, Jon Rahm and Justin Rose – plus Bjørn’s four wildcard selections.

The Dane will complete his 12-man squad two days later when he selects his four wildcards for the event.

Since the turn of the Century, Europe have won six of their eight matches against America, however this year they will be aiming to reclaim the Ryder Cup after the Americans comfortably dispatched of the Europeans 17 – 11 in 2016.

As The 2018 Ryder Cup draws ever closer and the excitement builds, now is the time for those players looking for automatic qualification to start performing if they are to make Bjørn’s side.
