Sept. 22-28, 2025 Bethpage Black Course, Farmingdale, NY

The American dream team continued its successful partnership, setting the tone for the morning session by shooting three-under to lead wire-to-wire and defeat a European pair that was undefeated in the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Reed rolled in a 12-foot birdie on the par four 16th to seal the victory, which was the United States’ first in the opening match since 1995. Reed and Spieth improved to 3-0-1 overall as a team and secured their first foursomes victory. Rose fell to 4-2-1 in foursomes while Stenson dropped to 2-2-1.

KEY MOMENT: The American side seized control early, making birdies on the second and third to take a two-up lead. They maintained the lead through the front nine but started to miss fairways and scramble around the turn - where Hazeltine turns into a beast. After losing the ninth to a par, Spieth left his 60-foot birdie try on the tenth eight feet short. Reed sank the slippery downhill par putt to halve the hole. The US maintained a two-hole cushion until it ended the match.

THEY SAID IT: “We had a great game plan coming in and stuck with it. We hit a lot of greens and in alternate shot you have to do that." - Reed
