In latest 'American Captain' episode, Love talks 8 qualifiers
In this week's installment of "The American Captain presented by Mercedes-Benz" we get a peak behind-the-scenes of Ryder Cup USA Captain Davis Love III's busy Monday earlier this week in New York City, which included a stop at the Today Show for a putting showdown with presenter Carson Daly.
Love spends a lot of time talking about his top-8 qualifiers and we even hear from some of the qualifiers themselves.
Perhaps most interesting was what Love had to say about Brandy Snedeker, who made his only other Ryder Cup start under Love in 2012 at Medinah.
"When you get Brandt Snedeker, you get one of the best putters in the game -- one of the best pressure putters," Love said. "He's the guy you want to run it by 4 feet in alternate shot because you know he's going to make it coming back. He's not afraid to stand up to anybody on the other side. He's the guy you want playing against their best player, because he's going to relish it and he's going to love the stage in the Ryder Cup."
Snedeker, who went 1-2-0 at Medinah, couldn't hide his excitement about getting another crack at the Ryder Cup.
"It's crazy," he said. "It's unlike any sporting event I've ever been a part of. I've been to all the big events in every walk of sports and Ryder Cup is something different. The passion, the crowds, the enthusiasm -- how into every shot they are, how into American pride they are that week and how much they're pulling for you. It's unlike anything I've ever seen. It's tough, but it's one of the coolest feelings in sports to be on that first tee, hear your name announced and then hear the crowd go crazy."
