Dustin Johnson couldn't have dreamed up a better way to enter U.S. Open week.

On Sunday, Johnson holed out for eagle on the final hole at TPC Southwind for an impressive six-shot victory in the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

The victory was the 18th of Johnson's career on the PGA Tour and he also reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the Official World Ranking, which he had surrendered to Justin Thomas at the Players Championship. Sunday's win also pulled Johnson within three points of Thomas for the No. 2 spot in the Ryder Cup USA points standings. Patrick Reed is still at No. 1.

Phil Mickelson fired a 65 on Sunday in Memphis to finish T12 and leap-frog Bryson DeChambeau for the No. 8 spot this week. That was the only change in the top 12 at Memphis.

In this week's U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, the winner (if American) will receive double Ryder Cup points. Everyone else will receive 1.5 points for every $1,000 earned.

U.S. players will continue to gain points in 2018 at every non-opposite PGA Tour event, WGC and major through the 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive, concluding on August 12, 2018.

At that time, Captain Jim Furyk will have his first eight players -- automatic qualifiers.

The four remaining slots on the U.S. Team will be Captain's Selections. Three selections will be announced by Captain Jim Furyk following the Dell Technologies Championship scheduled to be completed on Sept. 3, 2018, and the final selection will be announced after the BMW Championship, which is slated to be completed on Sept. 9, 2018.
