Sept. 22-28, 2025 Bethpage Black Course, Farmingdale, NY

The most notable move in the latest Ryder Cup USA standings over the weekend came from a familiar name: Phil Mickelson.

Mickelson -- an automatic qualifier for every Ryder Cup played since 1995 -- won on Sunday at the WGC-Mexico Championship, topping Justin Thomas in a playoff. The victory was the first for Mickelson since the 2013 Open Championship.

With the win, Lefty jumped from No. 11 to No. 4 in the latest Ryder Cup USA standings -- a solid move in his commitment to playing his way onto the team at Le Golf National, Paris, France.

It's worth noting that while Mickelson has been a part of three winning U.S. teams in 1999, 2008 and 2016, he has never been on a winning team on foreign soil. The U.S. hasn't accomplished that since 1993... every Ryder Cup since then has included Mickelson.

Also moving in the right direction in Mexico, Thomas took over the No. 1 spot from Dustin Johnson thanks to the runner-up finish.

Rickie Fowler was the only player to get bumped out of the top 8 in Mexico. He finished T37 to drop one spot to No. 9.

U.S. players will continue to gain points in 2018 at every non-opposite PGA Tour event, WGC and major through the 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive, concluding on August 12, 2018.

At that time, Captain Jim Furyk will have his first eight players -- automatic qualifiers.

The four remaining slots on the U.S. Team will be Captain's Selections. Three selections will be announced by Captain Jim Furyk following the Dell Technologies Championship scheduled to be completed on Sept. 3, 2018, and the final selection will be announced after the BMW Championship, which is slated to be completed on Sept. 9, 2018.

Here's how players will earn points in 2018.
