Bethpage Black

About

Opened in 1936, the Black Course at Bethpage State Park was designed by legendary architect A.W. Tillinghast and park superintendent Joseph Burbeck. It will host the Ryder Cup for the first time in 2025, joining Oak Hill Country Club as the only New York golf courses to host a Ryder Cup. Bethpage Black has been the site of major championships on three occasions; hosting the U.S. Open in 2002 (won by Tiger Woods) and 2009 (Lucas Glover), and the PGA Championship in 2019 (Brooks Koepka). One of the most renowned public golf courses in the United States, Bethpage Black is considered one of the toughest courses in the country, as well, presenting an ultimate test to recreational and world-class golfers alike.
