Dustin Johnson closed the gap significantly with Ryder Cup USA points leader Brooks Koepka after Johnson won the RBC Canadian Open at 23-under. Koepka still leads all American golfers with 8,981.472 points but Johnson jumped to 8,925.287 points after Koepka missed the cut.
There were no changes among the top 21 spots in the USA standings, with Koepka and Johnson in strong position for two of the automatic qualifier positions for the Ryder Cup.
The biggest movers of the week are all ranked outside of the top 40 as Ricky Barnes jumped 10 spots from No. 132 to No. 122, Keegan Bradley improved nine spots to No. 44 and Joel Dahmen improved eight positions to No. 54.
U.S. players will continue to gain points in 2018 at every non-opposite PGA Tour event, WGC and major through the 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive, concluding on August 12, 2018.
At that time, Captain Jim Furyk will have his first eight players – automatic qualifiers.
The four remaining slots on the U.S. Team will be Captain's Selections. Three selections will be announced by Captain Jim Furyk following the Dell Technologies Championship scheduled to be completed on Sept. 3, 2018, and the final selection will be announced after the BMW Championship, which is slated to be completed on Sept. 9, 2018.
