After a ten-year absence, Paul Casey returns to The Ryder Cup fray for the fourth time after being selected as one of Thomas Bjorn’s four Captain’s Picks.

A prolific winner on the European Tour with 13 titles, including the BMW PGA Championship, Casey returned to the winner’s circle earlier this year after triumphing at the Valspar Championship on the US PGA Tour, finishing one stroke ahead of Ryder Cup opponents Patrick Reed and Tiger Woods.

The Englishman represented Europe at The 2004, 2006 and 2008 Ryder Cups, and is undefeated in seven of nine matches at those three events.

The 41 year old resumed membership of the European Tour at the start of the 2018 season, signalling his intent to return to The Ryder Cup side, and he has been rewarded for his performances after a series of strong results this year.

He has been one of the world’s most consistent players in 2018, achieving 12 top 20 finishes, including five top tens in addition to his victory at the Valspar Championship. He has also remained a regular fixture inside the world’s Top 20 since 2016.

Casey is also a former winner of the HSBC World Match Play Championship and has won two out of three play-offs he has been involved in.

Quote: "It's been ten years since I've last played a Ryder Cup, and it was frustrating to be on the outside two years ago.  My game hasn't been there obviously.  Something I probably haven't dwelled on too much, but certainly playing great golf the last four years or, so the last four or five years, to not be part of it a couple of years ago was frustrating. Yeah, I'm overjoyed, to be standing next to 11 great flares, Thomas is the captain, against what is going to be a pretty formidable U.S. Team, I can't wait for it.  Overjoyed."
