Students from Bocconi University are linking golf with academic studies as part of the Ryder Cup 2022 Project.

Through an initiative set up by the Italian Golf Federation, students studying the post-graduate FIFA Master degree in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport at Bocconi University, in Milan, met with Gian Paolo Montali, General Director of Ryder Cup 2022 Project on Tuesday to discuss the links between golf and academics.

As part of their management studies, students learnt about recently announced initiatives associated with the Project, including Golf4autism, which will aim to offer autistic children aged between six and 12 the opportunity to learn the game of golf, and 50 Ryder Cup Compact Biogolf, an initiative aimed at developing small, sustainable golf facilities across Italy in the lead up to The 2022 Ryder Cup.

FIFA Master is a single program endorsed by FIFA and coordinated by CIES (Centre for Sports Studies), and hosted by three prestigious Universities across Europe including SDA Bocconi School of Management, De Montfort University, and Universitè de Neuchatel.

An experienced football manager and volleyball coach, Montali presented the values and goals of the Project to the students and discussed his own vision of leadership in business, management and sport.

An initiative that will continue through to 2027, the Project aims to unite the nation through international sports events, including the Italian Open, showcasing golf as an inclusive sport for all.

The Road to Rome 2022 has also been a significant factor for the Italian Golf Federation creating a strong connection to a number of cities across Italy following five events held in Monza, Florence, Lazio, Monte Bianco and Valle Dei Templi, Sicily, all with the aim of showcasing golf as an inclusive sport for all.

In 2022 Italy will host The Ryder Cup for the first time, with Rome’s Marco Simone Golf and Country Club playing host to golf’s greatest team event.
