RYDER CUP STANDINGS THROUGH THE HONDA CLASSIC

By Ryder Cup On March 22, 2021 12:20 UTC

The return of the Florida Swing saw Australian Matt Jones step back into the PGA TOUR winner’s circle for the first time in seven years, besting the field by five strokes to claim The Honda Classic title. Jones led for three of four rounds at PGA National, ceding the lead only to American Aaron Wise at the conclusion of Round 2 before coasting to victory.

While the U.S. Ryder Cup standings stayed static through the Top 20, this week’s biggest move came from former Georgia Bulldog, Russell Henley, who jumped from 36th to 28th on the heels of a T3 finish. The 2014 Honda Classic champion bounced back from a missed cut the previous week at THE PLAYERS Championship, looking to work his way up in the standings in pursuit of his first Ryder Cup appearance. Henley has previously represented the U.S. in the Walker Cup (2011) & Palmer Cup (2010, 2011).

In other U.S. Team notables, Captain Steve Stricker finished the week at T13, marking his fourth top-20 PGA TOUR appearance of the season.
