Rose and Fleetwood Qualify for Team Europe

Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood have joined Rory McIlroy in securing automatic qualification for Team Europe for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Rose will make his seventh Ryder Cup appearance when he joins Luke Donald’s team for the contest at Bethpage Black, New York, from September 26–28.
The Englishman sealed his spot last night by defeating J.J. Spaun in a thrilling play-off to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship, claiming his 12th PGA TOUR title. The World Number Nine was also runner-up at the 2025 Masters Tournament following a play-off against McIlroy and finished sixth at the Genesis Scottish Open in July.ly.

Fleetwood will make his fourth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance for Team Europe. Since the qualification period began last August, the Englishman has recorded nine top-ten finishes worldwide, most recently tied second at the Travelers Championship in June and tied third result at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

“Justin’s experience, leadership and proven Ryder Cup pedigree will be invaluable, and his recent victory in America underlines the form and confidence he will bring to New York.
“Tommy brings passion, consistency and an outstanding match play record, and he has shown time and again that he thrives in the team environment of the Ryder Cup.”

Rose made his debut for Team Europe in 2008 and made a further five appearances at the biennial event before qualifying for the team this September. He featured on winning sides in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2023 and will be looking for a second away victory, after being part of the history-making Miracle at Medinah team 13 years ago.
For Fleetwood, this will be a fourth consecutive appearance for Team Europe after featuring in 2018, 2021 and 2023. The current World Number 13 enjoyed a memorable debut at Le Golf National, winning four points out of five, and secured the winning moment for Europe in Rome in 2023. He will be aiming for a first away victory in New York in September.
The automatic qualification period for Team Europe ends on Sunday August 24. The top six players on the European Rankings at the conclusion of the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo will secure their spots, with Donald then due to select his six Captain’s Picks on Monday September 1.
McIlroy, Rose and Fleetwood are currently joined in the automatic spots by Robert MacIntyre, Tyrrell Hatton, and Sepp Straka.
