From the luckiest and youngest New York fans to the first of Europe's team taking to the mic, the Celebrity All-Star Match and the Opening Ceremony, we take a look at the best moments and highlights from Ryder Cup Wednesday at Bethpage Black

Big Apple the big star at Opening Ceremony

With difficult weather conditions expected on Thursday, the Opening Ceremony was brought forward 24 hours.

It may not have had the traditional announcement of the session one pairings but it had pomp, spectacle, noise and one thing running all the way through it - New York City.

Both Captains paid tribute to our host city but also to the spirit of the competition in a fitting official introduction to the players.

The wait is almost over.

Team Europe continue to win over the youngest New York fans

Much has been made of the hostile environment that may await Team Europe come Friday, but on Wednesday they continued to win over the youngest members of the New York crowds.

For a second consecutive day, Europe welcomed some of the Ryder Cup's youngest fans onto the course to sign their merchandise, providing them with moments they are sure never to forget. Today, Jon Rahm made one fan's day while the group of Fleetwood, Rose, Hojgaard and Aberg all welcomed one fan onto the course to sign his hat.

Team USA follow suit as Sam Burns gives club to luckiest fan at Bethpage Black

The U.S. Team followed suit today, and it provided some truly wholesome moments.

While one lucky birthday boy was brought onto the green with Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Young, Justin Thomas and vice captain Brandt Snedeker, it was a 9-year-old watching Sam Burns hitting balls on the range that was the luckiest of them all today

After Burns warmed up with his 9-iron, he took his glove off, motioned over to the young fan saying, "Hey, kid... you want me 9-iron?" In the heartwarming video, the fan is stunned as Burns throws his club over to him, the fan's dad catching it and handing it to his son.

Team Europe at the Mic

The first four players from Team Europe took to the mic in the interview room on Wednesday, revealing their thoughts on preparation, their teammates and the atmosphere at Bethpage Black.

While Rasmus Hojgaard talked about realising his dream and being welcomed into Team Europe, even if he does get called Nicolai half the time.

“It's been pretty easy to get into the team,” he said. “I've been called "Nicolai" pretty much half the time by everyone, but I think the Rome experience made it easier for me to get to know the guys a little bit better.

U.S. Team speak

Following the four Europeans, the trio of Cameron Young, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas took their turns in front of the media. Young spoke about his excitement about his first Ryder Cup in front of his home crowd, while

Collin Morikawa admitted that losing to Team Europe in Rome is something that has haunted him, and has driven him to put a lot of time into his preparations for this year's contest.

"There was a sour taste leaving Rome," he said. "I think that was my first team loss that I've ever had since even amateur golf and junior golf.

"So it felt really weird. Like it wasn't an okay feeling. You know, yeah, we're all out there drinking, having fun on Sunday night, but it just didn't feel right. We had a job and a goal to accomplish that week, and we just didn't pull through. We weren't hitting the shots. We weren't making the putts, and when you're on an away stage like that, you have to step up a little bit more.

"For the past couple years, I wouldn't say it's haunted me, but it definitely woke me up when I was, you know, on the verge of making this team to make sure I could give everything I could. I've had four weeks, essentially, since I've been on this team and a lot of time to think about what I need to do and what I need to bring to this week."

Practice Groups: Consistency for U.S and a shake up for Europe

A huge amount of consistency has remained the theme of Team USA's practices groups, returning today to the same pairings as they had on Monday.

The group of Young, Griffin, DeChambeau and Thomas remained the same for a third day in a row, with the only swap coming between J.J. Spaun and Collin Morikawa. Spaun switched back to the same group from Monday alongside Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele and Sam Burns, while Morikawa rejoined the group of Scottie Scheffler, Russell Henley and Harris English.

10:00 a.m. - Harris English, Russell Henley, Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun

Starting on the 10th, the 2023 foursomes pairing of Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm – who played together on Tuesday – were joined in the first group by Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka, who also teamed up together in Rome. Rory McIlroy changed groups entirely, from a four-ball of Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose to a group with Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland and Robert MacIntyre. Of that group, Hovland and MacIntyre had played together on Monday. In the final group, Fleetwood and Rose stayed together and joined up with Ludvig Aberg and Rasmus Hojgaard, with all four members of Team Europe having spoken in the interview room ahead of their round.
