The PGA TOUR kicked off 2021 on the island of Maui at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. It's also the first time that Ryder Cup points are available in the New Year as the march begins toward Whistling Straits this September.
In the end, it was Harris English who captured his first PGA TOUR victory since 2013. English closed out Joaquin Niemann with a birdie on the first playoff hole at Kapalua's Plantation Course.
English earned a 2,010 Ryder Cup points for his win and it catapulted him from 15th to 8th in the U.S. Team Rankings. After a T5 finish, Xander Schaffele moved to 5th place while Collin Morikawa owns the final of 6 qualifying spots.
