United States Announces Selection Criteria for 2027 Ryder Cup
The PGA of America today announced the U.S. Team selection criteria for the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Points will be awarded in 2027 to all U.S. players across 31 events beginning at The American Express, scheduled for January 18-24. Points qualification will conclude through the BMW Championship, taking place August 16-22, 2027.
The top six eligible players on the U.S. Ryder Cup Points list following the BMW Championship will earn automatic selections to the team. U.S. Captain Jim Furyk will make his six captain’s picks during the week of August 30 after the TOUR Championship.
“I have worked diligently with our team and am pleased to implement a new qualifying process for the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup Team,” said Furyk. “We possess an exceptional mix of veterans and rising stars, and this system will help us identify the strongest players in September 2027. As I have said from the outset, this role was very appealing to me because I love the passion, camaraderie and deep sense of brotherhood among this group of American players. I am excited for qualification to begin in January and to watch them compete at the highest level for a spot on our team.”
The 31 qualifying events to determine the top six qualifiers include the four Major Championships, THE PLAYERS Championship, eight PGA Tour Signature events, two PGA Tour playoff events and 16 PGA Tour full-field tournaments.
