Ryder Cup Trophy Tour to visit Paris

By RyderCup.com On June 20, 2016 3:00 UTC

One of sport’s greatest trophies, The Ryder Cup, will visit Paris this month as part of The Ryder Cup Trophy Tour.

The famous Trophy will be welcomed to France by Jean van de Velde, the first Frenchman to play in the Ryder Cup in 1999, and Pascal Grizot, President of The 2018 Ryder Cup French Committee (French Golf Federation) - who will launch the Paris leg of The Ryder Cup Trophy Tour beside the Eiffel Tower on Monday June 27.

Grizot said: “We are thrilled to have The Ryder Cup in Paris as part of the Trophy Tour. It is another way to build the excitement around The 2018 Ryder Cup at the Golf National and we cannot wait to welcome it.”

The Trophy will also visit some of the leading landmarks in Paris on Tuesday June 28, including the Arc de Triomphe, Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde, as part of a European tour aimed at building further fan excitement ahead of September’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine, USA.

France - the next European country to host the contest in 2018 - is one of a select group of European countries to stage The Ryder Cup Trophy Tour, with the roadshow also visiting the UK, Germany and Italy.

French golf fans will have the opportunity to be photographed alongside The Ryder Cup when it is put on public display at the 100th Open de France at Le Golf National from June 30 – July 3, 2016.

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “We are delighted that The Ryder Cup Trophy Tour will head to Paris and give French golf fans the opportunity to get closer to one of the great prizes in world sport.

“With this year’s Ryder Cup just months away, it is important to get European fans behind us and we hope The Ryder Cup Trophy Tour will generate significant support from the people of Paris as they prepare to host this fantastic event in 2018.”
