Andy Sullivan’s Ryder Cup ambition was boosted after he secured a tied for fifth finish at the 100th Open de France last week.
The Englishman took advantage of the double points on offer at Le Golf National, shooting rounds of 69-70-71-70 to move into fourth place on the European Points List.
Sullivan’s second top ten of the season sees him overtake Matt Fitzpatrick in the provisional standings, with the latter still in contention to make the team thanks to his World Points total.
“I've really put myself in a good position for The Ryder Cup again,” said Sullivan.
“I've tallied some good points up there, but I know I still have to go forward and play well in the next few events.”
While Rory McIlroy maintained his grip on second place in the European Points list, finishing outright third in France, there were also top 11 finishes for Rafa Cabrera Bello and Chris Wood, strengthening their positions on the respective points lists.
