Biography
A man who needs little introduction, McIlroy is making his eighth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance having dominated the qualifying process. The pinnacle of his qualifying campaign, and recent golf history, came at the Masters Tournament where he claimed a first Major victory in almost 11 years to complete the career Grand Slam, becoming just the sixth player in history to have won all four Major Championships. Add in further wins at the DP World Tour Championship, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, PLAYERS Championship and Amgen Irish Open along with three runner-up finishes and just eight results outside the top ten and it is clear to see how he finished top of the pile.

McIlroy has come a long way since he called the Ryder Cup an exhibition, not only speaking of his regret at those words but showing it inside the ropes in claiming 18 points thus far. His tears after his singles victory in the team humbling of 2021 were followed by a career-best four-point performance in 2023 – he is his team’s on-course leader and talisman, having missed just one session since his debut 15 years ago.
