Morikawa, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., clinched the 2021 Ryder Cup for the U.S. when he won the 17th hole of his Singles match against Viktor Hovland, guaranteeing the U.S. the half point they needed to secure victory. It was part of a stellar 3-0-1 Ryder Cup debut for Morikawa.
A six-time PGA Tour winner, Morikawa claimed his first major title at TPC Harding Park in the 2020 PGA Championship, and quickly followed that up with a triumph in The Open Championship at Royal St George’s.
Morikawa has also represented the U.S. in international team competition as part of the victorious 2022 and 2024 United States President Cup teams and the victorious 2017 U.S. Walker Cup team.
